Arthouse Movie is a two-room cinema at Nägelihof 4 in central Zurich, run by Arthouse, which also operates the Le Paris and Piccadilly cinemas in the city. The houses at Nägelihof date in part from the 13th century; in the mid-1970s the old house at number 4 was gutted and two cinema rooms were built into its upper floors, opening in November 1977. Movie 1 has 113 seats and Movie 2 has 161. Stills from Jean-Luc Godard films hang in Movie 1 and a photo installation by Zurich photographer Walter Pfeiffer in Movie 2, and the foyer displays an Oscar statuette and a Golden Globe for the film "The Search", on loan from the City of Zurich.
Arthouse's programme includes films in German and in other languages, and each screening carries a language label such as "E/d,f", "Ov/d" or "D". An "Ov" label does not by itself mean English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
Arthouse's venue page has a map link and a link to the ZVV journey planner. Its site lists Restaurant Mère Catherine and Bar Le Philosophe by the cinema.
